As a student at Aalborg Sportshøjskole, you create your own schedule based on your interests. You must choose one subject from each of the following categories: Sports Subject 1, Sports Subject 2, Sports Subject 3, Specialization Subject, Competency Subject, and Elective Subject. Additionally, all students have Common Subjects and the option to choose other Elective Subjects, which take place outside the mandatory teaching hours from 8 AM to 3 PM.

Choosing subjects

The year is divided into four periods, with two in the fall and two in the spring. Each period offers a different selection of subjects. This means you have the opportunity to try up to 12 different subjects throughout either the fall or spring - besides the mandatory common subjects and optional elective subjects.

You choose your subjects only after you start at the school. If you need to change subjects along the way, that’s definitely possible - as long as there is space available in the subject you want to switch to.

What about free time and weekends?

Just as you choose what to include in your schedule, you also decide how to spend your free time and weekends. It can be anything from cozy movie nights, relaxation, and training to exciting activities, parties, and nights out on the weekends. Since we are an urban folk high school located in the heart of Aalborg, there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy the city life with shops, cafés, street food, and the famous Jomfru Ane Gade. If the weather is nice, you can play beach volleyball, sunbathe, go for a swim at Vestre Fjordpark, or maybe take a trip to the sea.
